You like me, you really like me!

Aston Martin has just announced that they have turned a profit for apparantly the first time in forty years...!

Thank you, DB9, for being the greatest car ever.

I still think this car has a moustache

Jaguar XKR

So the Jaguar XK coupe is gorgeous, so is the convertible (though they both suffer from a bit of "taurus grill" syndrome).  Now we have the R-spec.  Goodbye Taurus, hello mesh.  Questionable, yeah, but the sideskirts, wheels, and (oh yeah) 420 horses make this that much better than a car a lot of reviews have called the one to beat.

Summer + Driving = Yes.

The Ultimate Driving Machine

“The ability to say no to compromise is a rare thing these days. Many companies would like to be able to say it, but so few have the autonomy to actually do it. As an independent company, BMW can say no. No, we will not compromise our ideas. No, we will not do it the way everyone else does it. No, we will not factor designs down to the lowest common denominator. No, we will not sell out to a parent company who will meddle in our affairs and ask us to subject our cars to mass market vanilla-ism. Because we can say no to compromise, we can say yes to other things — such as building our vehicles with 50/50 weight distribution for superior handling and control, despite the fact that it costs more to build them that way. It’s thousands of little things like this that separate BMW from other car companies. By maintaining our autonomy and ability to say no, we can make sure great ideas live on to become ultimate driving machines.”

The Top Gear Toupee Test

Saw this over on Autoblog and couldn't resist: Top Gear is at it again, and this time they want to know how much wind is getting inside a top-down convertible (in this case, a TVR and a CLK).  Of course, the only way to find out is to strap a hairpiece on a bald man and see how quickly it falls off as the car accelerates.  Of course.

2007 Mercedes E-Class

Here's a little mid-life refresh for Mercedes' E-Class.  A few cosmetic changes (airdams, lights), some functional changes (LED lights, new COMMAND), slight power boost, and (according to the press release) over 2000 new parts... still looks pretty much the same to me, though.

The incredible thing is the variety: all told, over all the body and powerplant variants, the E-class will have 29 models.  In other words, there's a lot

Bentley goes topless

It's finally here: the long-awaited convertible Bentley Continental GTC.  Maybe it's the lighting, maybe it's the lack of a roof, but those real wheel arches look so much bigger (and better) in the picture above than on the hardtop.  Ditto for the character line flowing out of the front wheel arch.  And this car is fast - that's a V12 up front.  Sadly, though, it's not a folding hardtop.

More to be revealed at NYAS this weekend...

Autoblog has more pictures here.

Because, why not?

Yeah, so lately we're less of a car blog and more of a Pixar blog... but I go on about it enough. Now you can watch it over and over and over...

Pixar's Rocks

Speaking of Cars, I went back to watch the trailer and noticed that a few of the rock formations in the computer-generated desert weren't so... natural.  Spot anything else?

Update: the airplane trails in the sky are tire tracks.  I love Pixar.
